hey there, i know of 3 persons that have been in the Big apple NY.
they are all europeans they loved it 2 of them even went twice in a year.
From what i know people in NY city is very helpfull and easy to get in contact.
I have never been there before, I want to go someday though. I live a long ways away.....but not as far away as you do!
